❗ Halved price for Premium Supporter + other changes

Several changes

The two most common reasons for discontinuing being a Premium Supporter at Warp News are 1) not enough time to read and 2) too expensive. At the same time, there are members who want to pay more.

Now I'm addressing all three by halving the cost of membership and halving the publication rate of Premium Supporter articles while making it possible to pay more for those who want to.

So going forward, you'll get two instead of three newsletters per week. A Premium Supporter article on Tuesdays and a summary of the news on Saturdays. Gone is the article previously sent out on Thursdays.

Instead, I will publish a news article then, so there will be six news items per week instead of five as it is today.

But, there are actually several of you who want to pay more. Some people have done this through larger one-time payments and others have asked about the possibility of paying a little more each month or year, and in that way support us in our mission. Paying just a little more hasn't been possible before, but it will be now. Those who want to will be able to stay at the current level or even increase their fee.

I've been thinking about making this change for a long time, as it aligns well with the new strategy I set in spring 2023. It aims to grow the free newsletter (which converts well to Premium Supporter) by giving more talks and being more visible in other media.

It has worked well, the free newsletter continues to grow organically and is approaching 17,000 subscribers now. Talks have increased significantly, which both brings new subscribers and much-needed revenue.

Writing one fewer Premium Supporter article per week frees up quite a bit of time for me, which I can instead use partly for outreach and to write my new AI book (which I hope will become a strong lever for Warp News.)

So this solves several things in one fell swoop.

Summary

• Halved cost from $100/year or $10/month to $50/year or $4.5/month.
• If you wish, you can keep paying $100/year or $10/month, or even pay more.
• From two to one Premium Supporter article per week.
• Six news articles per week instead of five.

You must make an active choice to change, otherwise you'll stay at the current fee

If you do nothing, you will continue to be charged $100/year or $10/month. To lower or raise your fee, you must make an active choice.

If you don't want to change anything, you don't need to do anything.

If you are a Premium Supporter through your work, invoice, or not actively paying, you do not need to do anything.

Here's how to change your fee

Log in to warpnews.org. In the upper right corner on a laptop, or click to bring up the menu in the upper right corner on a mobile.

Log in with a password or send a login link.

You'll then come to a menu. If you want to change plans, you click on Change plan, not surprisingly.

Then you can choose between the monthly option of $4.5/month or the annual option of $50/year.

If you want to increase your fee, click on Change price in the menu. There you can increase your price as much as you want (but not lower it below $100/year or $10/month.)

If you don't want to change anything, you don't need to do anything. But if you want to change, you must log in and actively do so.
