Even better, the money is not just littering the bottom, but the city of Rome collects the coins and hands them over to the charity Caritas.

The organization then uses the money to fund soup kitchens, shelters, free food bags and more.

So even if your wish doesn't come true, you're doing a good deed when you throw a penny into the fountain.
