Most used in IT and information services
A new study conducted by researchers at Stanford University shows that the use of generative AI is increasing rapidly in workplaces. The study, conducted in December 2024, is based on responses from 4,278 respondents in the USA.
In the information and IT sector, over 60 percent of employees use AI tools in their work. Usage is also high in real estate, construction, and education sectors - over 40 percent use AI in these industries.
Highly educated use AI the most
Almost half of all people with higher academic education use AI in their work. For those with a basic university degree, the figure is 37 percent. Among those with only high school education, about 20 percent use AI at work.
The study also shows that usage increases with income. Among those earning over $200,000 per year, almost 50 percent use AI in their work.
Significantly increases efficiency
Those who use AI in their work save an average of one hour per task. A task that normally takes 90 minutes to complete can be done in 30 minutes with the help of AI.
One-third of those who use AI do so every workday. The most common use is to make tasks more efficient - 60 percent state this as the primary area of use.
ChatGPT and Gemini are the most used AI tools, followed by Github Copilot and Scribe.
